For anyone landing here from search still trying to work out the actual state of this: OpusClip did eventually ship an API (gated to paid plans — check their current docs for tiers) and an MCP server, which is why the thread is marked Complete even though for a long time neither was publicly accessible. So the answer to the original 2023 request is "yes, now, with caveats."

The caveat worth knowing before you build on any clipping API: most of them cover generation only. You submit a video, you get clips back via webhook — exactly what this thread asked for — but the workflow people are actually automating is longer: transcript → moment selection → captioning/branding → render → distribution to Shorts/TikTok/Reels → analytics. If the API stops at "here are your clips," you're still hand-stitching upload APIs for each platform, and Meta/TikTok's content-posting approval process is its own project.

When evaluating, ask specifically: does it persist a brand template across jobs, or do you pass styling on every call? Does it publish, or just render? Can an AI agent drive it (MCP), or is it webhooks-only? Alternatives worth comparing on those axes: Vizard has a documented public API, Reap exposes an MCP server, openshorts is open-source (self-host, API + MCP) if you want control, and Descript has opened API access for editing-centric workflows.

also include integration for make or have webhooks available. Scenario for my use case is send clips from make to airtable/google sheets and have open ai create descriptions and titles before being pushed to youtube.

Being able to publish to YouTube through Opus... initiated by the API would be so helpful

This would truly take Opus to the next level, especially with the OpenAI updates around GPTs and JSON output.
